If A<Y<Z<B, is /Y-A/< /Y-B/?

1) /Z-A/ < /Z-B/

2) /Y-A/ < /Z-B/

OA is D

I tried plugging both positive and negative values for A,Y,Z and B and I got different answers. So, I concluded that E is the answer. And my method was not time efficient.
Any ideas please?

should be D
question is whether distance between y and A is shorter than the distance between Y and B

1) distance between Z and A is shorter than that between Z and B
Y can at max be Z
so distance between Y and A will be shorter than that between Y and B

SUFF

2)Basically the same statement as 1
SUFF

Draw a number line, mark A,Y,Z and B and it will be clear.
The powers of two are bloody impolite!!
