If a set consists of all positive digits less than or equal to 3 and of the squares of those digits, what is the mode of the set?

A. 1
B. 2
C. 3
D. 4
E. 9

The OA is the option A.

Why is A the correct choice? How can show it? I'd appreciate some help here. Please.

Hello Vjesus12.

Let's take a look at your question.

Since the set consists of 1, 2, 3 and their squares, then the set is the following: A = {1, 2, 3, 1, 4, 9}.

Now, the mode of a set is the element that most appear on it, hence we have that the mode of the set A is 1.

This is why the correct answer is the option A.

The MODE of a set is the number that appears the most often.

Positive digits less than or equal to 3:
1, 2, 3.
Squares of these digits:
1, 4, 9.
Resulting set when the two lists above are combined:
1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 9.
In the resulting set, the number that appears the most often is 1.

The correct answer is A.

The set consists of the following integers: 1, 2, 3, 1^2 = 1, 2^2 = 4 and 3^2 = 9. So the mode is 1.
