I think I will go with C.

John's argument is that if you believe then you will succeed. Jolanda counters by stating that most of the women in the '100 most successful women' list did not believe that they would be successful.

John's response should be this - If you believe then you will succeed but it's not the other way round. i.e if you are successful it doesn't mean that you believed in being successful. This is best supported by C.

I guess the answer can be E as well..It creates doubt abt men's information which is missing..and Jolanda can't confirm his statement without confirming this statement.

IMO ans is A

as per John believe in inevitability of success--->success but opposite may or may not be true i.e who ever is successful may or may not believe in inevitability of success
as per Jolanda success-->believe in inevitability of success which is opposite to what John stated.

option A clearly states this.Hence A.

Your explanation seems to be OK but it was hard to understand in beginning.

I believe that it follows this rule.

if A, then B implies if not B, then not A. All others inferences are uncertain.

if B, then A may or may not be exist.

So,

If SUCCESS, it may or may not depend on it surety.
