Target question => Which of the five numbers is the median?
The median of the 5 numbers is the middle when arranged in ascending order


Statement 1 => a < b - c
This means that b and c are greater than a but nothing was stated about the position of d and e so target question cannot be answered and statement 1 is NOT SUFFICIENT


Statement 2 => d > e
No information was provided for a, b and c so target question cannot be answered and statement 2 is NOT SUFFICIENT


Combining both statements together =>
From statement 1 => a < b and c
From statement 2 => d > e
Their exact value is unknown hence they cannot be arranged in ascending order. Since each information available is not enough to arrange their integers, then both statements combined together are NOT SUFFICIENT

Answer = E
