The cameras of the Voyager II spacecraft detected six small, previously unseen moons circling Uranus, which doubles to twelve the number of satellites now known as orbiting the distant planet.

Which is correct?
> to orbit the planet
> to be orbiting the planet
Will go with B, however this is not a likely GMAT question. (Test for idioms)
Please correct me if am wrong!

IMO A. => to orbit the planet

Please post the full question with all options.

My understanding was that the ING verb next to a comma modifies the main subject of the sentence. In this case doubling modifies cameras? When i read the sentence, as == The cameras doubling the number of satellites now known to orbit the distant planet ... it doesnt make sense. Could you please explain the usage of ing word modifier?
