Rhetorical construction modifier error -

A) Modifier placement makes the sentence seem to convey that the walls enable termites to grow.
B) Modifier makes it seem that the walls are for the growth of termite populations.
C) Modifier makes it seem that the walls are for growing termites.
D) Verb ing modifier correctly modifies the foregoing clause to add information indicating that the situation described enables termite populations to grow.
E) Modifier using "that" conveys that the walls are grown by termite populations.

Choose D.

The OA is A. I know it is not correct.
But I also don't get why D can be correct without comma preceding "enabling" as in a cause-effect situation.

I guess D does need a comma. As it stands in a way the sentence conveys that the home walls are enabling termite populations to grow.

LOL

There is no really good or fully correct answer in this one.
