increases the likelihood that imitative violence will erupt

Which is correct?
Also what about likelihood ..will -> Isnt that redundant?

The correct usage would be:
increases the likelihood that imitative violence will erupt

Likelihood...will is not redundant depending on the sentence and an example can be clarified by using this term in another sentence:

What is the likelihood that President Obama will stop the war in Iraq?

Please let me know if this makes it clearer?

Likelihood means possibility ( undpredictable)

will means predictable...

Having both is certainly not good.

I agree with Iamcste.. that both are just the opposite..but off late AFAIK and i have read .its very commonly used in media, print .

I could find "likelihood that" and " likelihood of"

as correct idiom usage....
