Hi,

I am done with 150 hrs. of studying so far. Solved OG and Kaplan Review. Reading SC from Manhattan since my Verbal scores have been around the 35 mark. I have been able to scale-up my Quant scores to 50. Solving a lot of practice sets and a few Verbal questions from Kaplan 800. Following have been my scores in practice CATs-

GMATPrep1- Late Sep 620
Kaplan 1- Early Oct- 680
Kaplan 2- Late Oct- 680
Kaplan 3- 10th Nov- 700
I plant to attempt atleast 1 each of Manhattan and Kaplan tests and the GMAT Prep Test 2 in the coming weeks.

I am not losing patience here, since my scores are steadily improving. However, I only doubt for how long I would be able to maintain the steam. When does one realize one's peak? How does one identify the right time to appear for the actual test.

I am visiting my parents in the 2nd week of Dec'13. I thought that would be the right time to have the test scheduled for.

Please guide.

Hi Bharat,

You're scoring in a nice range on your practice CATs right now, so planning to take the GMAT sometime during the next month or so is a good idea. Try to pick a day and time that would allow you to perform at your best and go for it.

How good are Manhattan and Kaplan CATs as indicators? Should I really start believing I can breach 700 on D-day?

Hi Bharat,

They're accurate enough to assess your ability. If you're suspicious of those results, then take the practice CATs available from www.mba.com; you can get 2 for free and another 2 for $40.

You might just be ready by the 2nd week of December!

As Rich said, take the GMATPrep official practice test (as you said you plan to do).

Since you already have a few results from the Kaplan tests, why not replace your next one of those with a the Free Veritas Practice test? The link is in my signature line.

This was just posted today in the Best Practice Tests discussion: "The Veritas Prep practice tests are new as of July 2013 and seem to be giving very reliable results as well as a great tools for analysis." - posted by clubpenza

So you might give that a try!

Hi Bharat,

A 670 is in range of your recent CAT scores, so you should take it as more of a "good sign" than a "bad sign." As you review the CAT, take a good look at the WHY you got questions wrong. More often than not, it's for one of two reasons:

1) You made a little/silly mistake
2) The question was too hard

Put your energy into fixing the little mistakes and you'll score higher.

Hey, ya that's another way to look at it. Yes, i reviewed and found some silly errors in Quant. I was groggy as hell during the test after a late Saturday night. Lesson learnt...not again!
