8. There are 8 ounces in a 1/2 pound. How many ounces are in 7 3/4 lbs?

A. 12 ounces
B. 86 ounces
C. 119 ounces
D. 124 ounces
E. 138 ounces

I think it is D.

8 ounces / 0.5 lbs = x ounces / 7.75 lbs

solve for x and get 124.

I think it's 124 as well.

This means that there are 16 ounces in a pound and 12 ounces in 3/4 of a pound.

7 * 16 = 112

112 + 12 = 124
