Useful protein drugs, such as insulin, must still be administered by the cumbersome
procedure of injection under the skin. If proteins are taken orally, they are digested and
cannot reach their target cells. Certain non protein drugs, however, contain chemical bonds
that are not broken down by the digestive system. They can, thus, be taken orally.

The statements above most strongly support a claim that a research procedure that
successfully accomplishes which of the following would be beneficial to users of protein
drugs?

a) Coating insulin with compounds that are broken down by target cells, but whose chemical bonds are resistant to digestion
b) Converting into protein compounds, by procedures that work in the laboratory, the nonprotein drugs that resist digestion
c) Removing permanently from the digestive system any substances that digest proteins
d) Determining, in a systematic way, what enzymes and bacteria are present in the normal digestive system and whether they tend to be broken down within the body
e) Determining the amount of time each nonprotein drug takes to reach its target cells.

Im not a doctor either :).. I was stuck between A and B. Would go with B.
The arguement talks about proteins being digested when taken orally, we want a procedure that prevents them from being digested so they can reach the target cells. We know certain non-protein drugs are not broken down by the digestive system. B builds a link between the two, and presents a way out that protein could be taken orally using the procedure.
Being defeated is often only a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent.

I think " this time i will " is a doctor because his answer is Right.
I just didn't understand what is going on?
so please if anybody can explain......

As stated above you want an answer that says that protein drugs can be altered to be taken orally. The only things we know from the argument that can be taken orally are certain non-protein drugs that resist digestion.

A) This is the right answer becuase it says we can coat the insulin (a protein drug) with something that resists digestion but that can be broken down at the target cells.

B) This talks about converting non-protein drugs into protein compounds - this would not help insulin users becuase insulinis a protein that is digested and changing other drugs won't help that.

c) certainly not talking about destroying digestive system as a help adds too many other problems.

d. they already know insulin is broken down, we don't have to study all the types.

e. we aren't worried about the non-protein drugs, just the protein drugs - the question asks which would be beneficial to users of protein drugs.
