How to use Manhattan SC guide effectively???

I agree, SC guide is one the best resource available to improve your SC score, but I feel it contains lot off information and would like to know how to use it efficiently.

I followed the following pattern while using SC guide

1. Completed all the chapters (tons of information and very difficult to remember all these points and apply them while doing questions in timed manner)
2. Did all the questions from OG Verbal review (purple book) related to a particular chapter (Success rate is around 80%)
3. Did questions in batches of 10-15 in timed manner (Success rate is around 60%)

SC is my weakest point in Verbal, I would like to improve success rate…please help me…

Hi,

You are right, Manhattan SC book is the best book provided we utilize it effectively. I agree with your feedback, this book contains tons of information. But each explained rules is helpful to answer GMAT real questions. Manhattan SC book is completely designed and released for GMAT questions only. It means the author/writer completely analyzed Official Guide problems and came up with strategies and shortcuts to eliminate the wrong answer.

It is really difficult to remember every point in one reading. Better you should makes yours notes -chapter vice, and daily revise them. When I started my Preparation, I faced similar problem but later point of time I realized that anyhow I have to revise all these rules regulary.

I am sure, if you revise these rule regularly, you will easily solve SC problem. Also Focus more on Parallelism and Idioms.

I haven't gotten the MGMAT book yet, I just ordered it this weekend, but on most of my practice test I get about 80-90% of the SC questions correct. I would suggest making flash cards. For instance, I have about 100 flash cards just for SC. An example of a flash card may be on one side "less....fewer" on the back "less modifies a singular noun, fewer modifies a plural noun". Now whenever I see that, I have the flashcard memorized so I get that question right (most of the time anyway...lol).
