Say points Q, R are on line a and points S, P are on line b

a) x > y
Since it is given that x and y both are less than 90.
for all the values of x the line PQ will always be less SR because,
As the value of angle y goes on decreasing the length of line segment SR will go on increasing and will intersect on the right hand side of the line b. hence SUFF

b) x + y > 90
Here we can not determine the measure of the angles x or y, Since it is given that they both are less than 90... the gievn data i.e. x + y > 90 is not sufficient to determine the values of x & y, and hence, x can or can not be greater than y, so this option is INSUFF.
