how to prepare for AWA

by new2gmat2 » Mon Apr 05, 2010 11:30 am
What should i read to prepare for the AWA section?
I just started reading more news articles in the Economist.
Should I be reading more news articles or opinion articles?
I really have no idea where I should start and what would help the most.
Please help.

Go through the OG sample essays and directions. You will see what is expected from a test taker in the AWA section. Also, look in the AWA section of this forum and you will find a very good collection of sample argument and issue essays which you may use to start with.

The basic guideline for AWA section is to come up with a template of your own and then practice some essay topics based on that template. Once you go through a couple of the sample essays, you will probably feel more comfortable.

Reading various good texts is always good, not only for AWA, but also for your RC. However, understanding the format of the AWA essays is very important, followed by some practice.

Hope this helps.
