Hi,
I am a 26 y/o URM who has decided that I'd like to get into a top 20 MBA program, with interests in social enterprise and product development in emerging economies. I want to give myself a year or 2 to beef up my profile before application. My current profile is:

graduated with a 3.0 in economics from ga state (minor in sociology)
worked as communications associate for small local nonprofit consulting company
admitted as a fellow in a young social enterprise fellowship that placed me in India for 9 months
Currently leading market research project in India for leading US social investment firm- (short term contract)

My question is which actions would have the GREATEST positive affect on my chances of admission to top 20 school?
- Job at a competitive company?
- Starting a business?
- Developing an alternative transcript?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi kimcampbel,

Regarding your question, the best way to improve your application is to pursue an area you are passionate about and to look to make an impact. This can be through your current work, through starting a company, or through extracurricular activities. One of the characteristics of top business school candidates is that they have all looked to make an impact on the world.

Cheers,

Conrad and the Stacy Blackman Team
