Let the total amount charged be \(x\)

First statement states tip \(= \dfrac{15}{100} \cdot x\). Not sufficient \(\Large{\color{red}\chi}\)

Second statement states tip \(= 6\$\). Clearly not sufficient \(\Large{\color{red}\chi}\)

Now combine 1 and 2

\(6=\dfrac{15}{100} \cdot x\)

Thus \(x = 40 \$\)

Hence, he was charged \(40\$\) and paid a total of \(46\$\)

Therefore, the correct answer is C
