How many of the 400 students in the 11th grade will take calculus?

1) 40 % of the students at the school take calculus.
2) 80% of the 11th graders do not take calculus.

The OA is B
Let's take each statement one by one.

1) 40% of the students at the school take calculus.

This statement does not help as it talks about the school and not about 11th-grade students. Insufficient

2) 80% of the 11th graders do not take calculus.

=> 20% of the 11th graders will take calculus. Or, 20% of 400 = 80 students of 11th grade will take calculus. Sufficient.

The correct answer: B

Hope this helps!
