how many 12 ounce cans of concentrate...

According to the directions on a can of frozen juice concentrate, 1 can of concentrate is to be mixed with 3 cans of water to make orange juice. How many 12 ounce cans of concentrate are required to prepare 200 6-ounce servings of orange juice?

A. 25
B. 34
C. 50
D. 67
E. 100

Answer is A

Total ounces of juice needed = 200 x 6 = 1200 ounces.
We are asked to find the # cans of juice concentrate.

With one 12 ounce can we can make 12 + 36 (1 can of juice concentrate and 3 cans of water) 48 ounces of orange juice.

for 1200 ounces => 1200/48 = 25.

IMO A.
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.

use ratios -> in cans we have 1/(3+1)

in ounces we get -> 1/4=x/200 x=50 6-ounce cans OR 25 12-ounce cans

For 1 can we have to mix 3 cans of water.
if 1 can is 12 ounce then 3 cans of water will be 36 ounces. Hope you get it. :)

RATIO OF CONCENTRATE TO TOTAL JUICE = 1:4.
1/4 = 12*X/(200*6)
X = 25 CANS

1 can of concentrate + 3 cans of water = orange juice
If each can is 12 ounces, then 1 can of 12 ounce concentrate + 3 cans of 12 ounce water = orange juice
Let us assume that number of cans = N
12N + 3N(12) = 200 * 6
12N + 36N = 1200
48N = 1200
N = 1200/48
N = 25

The correct answer is A.
