How long would it take for ball moving in a straight line to travel 246 meters?

(1) The ball travels makes 3 complete rotations per second.
(2) The ball completed half the trip in 112 rotations.

How would i know if statement 1 is sufficient?

Hi,

What's the source of the question? The data used in Statement 2 is not apt. However, the question is correct.

Well, Statement 1 itself is not correct. Let's see how.

(1) The ball makes 3 complete rotations per second.

We have no information how much (what distance) the ball travels in one rotation. Thus, we can get how much time it would take it to travel 246 meters. Insufficient. A bigger ball will do it faster than a smaller ball.

(2) The ball completed half the trip in 112 rotations.

We do not know in what time the ball completed half the trip. Insufficient.

(1) and (2) together

From (2), we get the ball would complete the trip in 2*112 = 224 rotations and from (1), we know that the ball makes 3 complete rotations per second, thus to make 224 rotations, it will take 224/3 = 74.67... seconds. Sufficient.

The correct answer: C

Hope this helps!
