How do YOU use the OG13?

Hi All,

I've just started my GMAT prep over the last two weeks for my scheduled GMAT exam in September. I'm mainly using the MGMAT guides and the OG13. I'm curious to see what strategies you use/used while using the OG. What have you found to be successful? A part of me wants to run through it question by question, and then another side of me wants to work on a specific topic and then just focus on those questions to master the content. What's worked for you?

I suggest that you use the OG13 to work on specific topics until you gain mastery of that topic.

While completing questions from the OG13, you should you use an Error Log (aka Improvement Chart). You can find a free downloadable Improvement Chart here: https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/gmat-error-log. This will help you identify and strengthen your weak areas.

You should also spend a lot of time reviewing the responses from the Experts on this site. They model the steps one should take when tackling math problems.

Hi mdlyman,

Many GMAT Courses incorporate the OG13 in very specific ways as part of their Course Lessons, so you might see if your other books include any specific advice about how to use the OG13.

Hi mdlyman

Agree with Brent - work on specific topics in your strategy guides, followed by you can solve topic wise problems that are listed at the end of your strategy guides that redirect you to both OG13 and Verbal/Quant supplement guides.

Take your time to revise your questions before you jump into a new topic.

Eventually, you can prepare and solve timed sets with a mix-up of problems from different topics.
