Every store on Main Street in Summitville has an awning, and all of these awnings are either green or red. If the statement above is true, which one of the following must also be true?
I. Some awnings in Summitville are green.
II. If a store in Summitville does not have an awning, then it is not on Main Street.
III. If a store in Summitville has a red awning, then it is on Main Street.

A) I only

B) II only

C) I and II only

D) I and III only

E) I, II, and III

actually i change that to IMO B

option 1 says some MUST be green where they can be red or green; but they could all be red leaving no green.

Only statement I must be true for the argument to be true. (although i am a bit skeptical about this statement)
II can't be true because it is mentioned that all stores in main street have an awning, nothing is mentioned about stores which are not in main street.
III same story, other stores not in the Main street can also have red awning. We only know info about stores in Main street.

Not necessarily. It could be that all stores in Main Street have red ones, and the other stores in Summitville have none.



II. If a store in Summitville does not have an awning, then it is not on Main Street.

True. All Main Street stores have awnings. If some store doesn't have them, then we are sure it is not in Main Street.


III. If a store in Summitville has a red awning, then it is on Main Street.

Not necessarily. We know nothing about stores outside of Main Street. It might as well be one of them.

I am still not convinced with this reasoning. All main stores -> awnings..fine
but it doesn't mean that only main street stores have awnings.

Regarding I):
It is possible that all awnings in Summitville can be red. Hence, I) is not true.

Regarding III):
It is possible that a store in Summitville has a green awning and it is on Main Street.

Regarding II):
We can conclude this from the 1st sentence. Hence, my answer B_

The answer is B

Some awnings in Summitville are green. : This can be true ,but we are asked to find a MUST be true answer so its not a correct one

If a store in Summitville has a red awning, then it is on Main Street.: But we are told about something else or a property of the stores in main street not all the stores in S .

So there can be stores with Red Awing which are not in main street so this is also wrong
