The desire of corporations to maximize profits creates conflict with the general welfare of the nation at large.

The argument stated above may seem like a logical argument, but in fact, is flawed because it is based on several assumptions that it fails to mention.
The argument assumes that in maximizing profits, the nations will suffer. When in fact, the nation could benefit from the increase in profits made by the corporation through higher taxes the corporation has to pay, or by
reducing ineffeciences that cause waste and pollution. From prior experiences with corporations, one of the many things the corporation did to maximize profits was to be more energy efficient in the workplace. The cost savings proved to be very beneficial at no expense to the employees or to the local community. Thus, the corporations dersire to maximize profits in this case did not create any conflict, but actually helped the welfare of the nation.
The argument is also flawed because the author is assuming that all corporations are directly related to the nation in which is the corporation is based and or that all corporations are all powerful enough to affect general welfare of a nation. There are millions of corporations in each nation, some of which that have no direct connection with the
nation in which is it located. Thus, maximizing profits for such a corporation cannot do any such harm to the nation.
Setting up a corporation is a simple process that anyone could create. However the author is assuming that all
corporations are the same and that they all have equal weight of control and manipulation, which is a wrong
assumption.
To strengthen the argument, the author should elaborate on how corporations maximize their profits. The author
could also show a correlation between the profit increase and the number of employees the firm has fired or hired
that are located within the nation.Addtionally, the author could provide information that shows how corporations
can effect national welfare and should specify what kind of corporations. In doing so, it will strengthen the authors
argument and help the reader agree with the argument.
