Hi

can anyone help me in this....

According to directions on a can juice concentrate, 1 can of concentrate is to be mixed with 3 cans of water to make orange juice... How many 12 ounce cans are required to make 200 6 ounce servings of orange juice

a) 25
b) 34
c) 50
d) 67
e) 100

So they want to know how many cans of concentrate it takes to make 1200 ounces of juice

So from the ratio, we know that 1 in 4 cans in the total mix is concentrate.

So we need to isolate how much concentrate is within the juice. Lets divide 1200oz/4oz = 300 oz of concentrate within the juice.

300/12oz per can of concentrate = 25 12oz cans of concentrate

Answer is A

I converted concentrate to gin and juice to tonic to make it easier mentally, the lime is isolated

conc : water = 1:3

say 'n' is the number of cans
we have:
12(n) oz of conc. and 36n oz of water and get 200(6) oz of juice

(36n oz of water becos we mix 3 times conc)

ie
12n+ 36n = 200*6
solving for n we get 25
