(1) nx - n < 0 (2) x-1 = -2 So x= minus 1. Then plug in (1) and we have -2n<0 . N can be =1.1 and it doesnt work. or N can be = 0.5 and works. Shouldnt it be E or am I making a mistake somewhere? Statement I nx-n < 0 n(x-1) < 0 We dont know anything about x or n. Therefore insufficient. Statement II x-1 = -2 we dont know anything about n. Insufficient. Combining I & II n(x-1) < 0 x-1 =-2 -2n < 0 n has to be greater than 0 to satisfy the above equation. Therefore, n could be greater than 1 & n could be less than 1 Insufficient. Hence E is the answer. OA cant be C. unless you are missing something from the question stem. Whats the source ? Senior | Next Rank: 100 Posts Joined 23 Jun 2008 Posted: 35 messages Upvotes: 2 If OA is C then there must be a statement saying "n is an integer" or something similar. Please make sure you're not missing that. • Free Trial & Practice Exam BEAT THE GMAT EXCLUSIVE Available with Beat the GMAT members only code • 5-Day Free Trial 5-day free, full-access trial TTP Quant Available with Beat the GMAT members only code • 1 Hour Free BEAT THE GMAT EXCLUSIVE Available with Beat the GMAT members only code • Magoosh Study with Magoosh GMAT prep Available with Beat the GMAT members only code • Award-winning private GMAT tutoring Register now and save up to$200
