Help in confirming answer

by mav800rick » Fri May 30, 2008 2:08 pm
What is the value of 3 ^-(x + y) / 3^-(x - y)?
(1) x = 2
(2) y = 3

---My approach-------------

solving the expression we are left with 3^2x..so A as x is only needed. gievn answer is B.

3^-(x + y) / 3^-(x - y)
=3^-(x + y) * 3^(x - y)
=3^[-(x + y) + (x - y)]
=3^[-x - y + x - y]
=3^(-2y)

answer should be B

Answer should be B as solving results in 3^ -2y.
