Have I used the parallelism correct?

by baalok88 » Tue Sep 06, 2016 5:10 pm
hello, I need a proper explanation on below SC question-
1. The consultant is looking for a Cafe where there are comfy chairs and that provides free internet access.

Above statement is wrong and I corrected it like below
- The consultant is looking for a cafe where there are comfy chairs and where it provides free internet access.

Is above parallelism used correct?

(The pedant in me will insist on "have I used it correctly." But I digress)

You're almost correct, but not quite:

The consultant is looking for a cafe where there are comfy chairs and where it provides free internet access.

A "there are" clause should not be made parallel to a clause with a specified subject.

Here are some ways the parallelism might be correctly expressed here:

The consultant is looking for a cafe in which there are comfy chairs and free internet access.

The consultant is looking for a cafe that has comfy chairs and provides free internet access.
