I would choose "A"

A - correct
B - illogical, it is not the animal that PROVIDES fossils
C, E - incorrect, it is the animal that resembles both a fish and a land-animal and not its fossils
D - incorrect grammatically, the plural subject "fossils" is followed by the singular verb form RESEMBLES
