Except for one class in history and one in biology, all the student's graduation requirements have been fulfilled.

(A) Except for one class in history and one in biology, all the student's graduation requirements have been fulfilled

(B) Except for needing to take one class in history and one in biology, the student has fulfilled all of his requirements for graduation

(C) The student has fulfilled all of his graduation requirements except for one class in history and one in biology

(D) Except for one history class and one biology class, the student has fulfilled all of his graduation requirements

(E) Aside from the history class and biology class that he needs to take, the student's graduation requirements have all been fulfilled.

OA in after some discussion.

IMO D

(A) Except for one class in history and one in biology, all the student's graduation requirements have been fulfilled. (the student fulfilled the requirements instead of some possessive noun. Also, passive construction. )

(B) Except for needing to take one class in history and one in biology, the student has fulfilled all of his requirements for graduation (wordy and awkward)

(C) The student has fulfilled all of his graduation requirements except for one class in history and one in biology (This option is a close call, however GMAT do tests modifiers, so I would keep it and try to find a better construction)

(D) Except for one history class and one biology class, the student has fulfilled all of his graduation requirements (ahha!!)

(E) Aside from the history class and biology class that he needs to take, the student's graduation requirements have all been fulfilled. (No antecedents for "he".Also, prefer an active construction over a passive construction)

between c and d which are so close with a minor difference, i will choose "c" since it is better to state the main clause then talk about some exceptions.. also "except for one class in history and one is biology" is a good one ;)

i do not have an idea, what is your reference, but i searched this in google, the choice c and are a bit different
in another forum, choice c and d r a bit different in a way that choice c say 'all his graduation requirements' while choice d states 'all of his graduation requiremnt'
however, in your answer choices this part of choice c and d are the same... so I am not sure the OA wil be d.. could you please chk in your reference

Between C and D, I'll pick D. There is a subtle difference between the two statements

In C, the sentence suggests that the student fulfilled all of his requirements, yet, there is an exception
