I transferred undergraduate universities. I'm wondering which GPA number schools will average into their MBA class aggregates for the year (and report to ranking institutions). Do they tend to use the final GPA from the degree-granting institution, or will the school recalculate a GPA based on transcripts from both universities.

Dear bankst,

Great question! You should expect both scenarios as there is variance in this situation. In my experience, the norm tends to be the cumulative GPA from the degree-granting institution. However, some schools use a cumulative GPA from all transcripts and some use the GPA from the last 2 years in evaluating applicants. If you want to be sure with regard to your target schools, then you should ask them directly as most will be happy to answer the question (or it might be on the school's website).
