The sale of government surplus machinery will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until the supply lasts.

A. will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until the supply lasts
B. begins at 9 a.m., continuing until the supply lasts
C. will begin at 9 a.m. and, until the supply lasts, will continue
D. begins at 9 a.m. and, as long as the supply may last, it continues
E. will begin at 9 a.m. and continue as long as the supply lasts

Yes even I think it should be A.

"until the supply lasts" is better than "as long as the supply lasts"

The OA is E. I chose A as I thought that A is better.

Please explain why E is OA

E is the best option here because of different usage of as long as and until.

as long as is used when some action occurs simultaniously with another.

in the issue at hand the sale will continue ( occur simultaniously) as long as the sully lasts

A would have been correct if it said "until supply gets over"

if we say "supply lasts" we must use "as long as"

similar to
-as long as one lives
-until one dies
