got a 740, but didn't hit the coveted 80/80. thoughts?

hi consultants,

i recently got a 740 with 46/46 quant/verbal split. my percentiles were 77q/99v, and 97 overall.

i think my scaled scores show that i am equally strong in quant and verbal... but my percentiles are heavily skewed to verbal. is this a huge issue? i know that 80/80 is generally recommended.

and for some background, i have a relatively low gpa in a biological science, so my undergrad quant background is not particularly strong. i am targeting top tiers including stanford, haas.

thoughts? advice?

Thanks for your note. A 740 GMAT score is very impressive, no matter how you arrive at it. Meaning, you should not retake your GMAT because it is fine as is.

If you want to address your quant abilities, I recommend that you build an alternative transcript focused on business foundation courses like statistics, calculus, accounting or economics. By taking 2 classes and getting As, you will now have a 4.0 alternate transcript. By combining this alternate transcript with your high GMAT score, you will have addressed any concerns that the adcom might have about your academic abilities.
