i'm almost done with all the study guides. on the last one right now - decimals, fractions, etc. i've been marking ALL those questions which i've gotten wrong and which I wasn't comfortable in. i'm qite weak in word translations. i still have 2 more weeks to go for my GMAT. i was thinking i'll start practicing verbal questions and devote the other half of the day to going through the maths questions that i got wrong, chapter-wise.

is that the right approach?

IMO, the best way to improve word translations is to hone your algebra skills.

I did the same mistake that u r going to do.I got 550 for the first time then i got 450 when i was aiming for 600+ in 4 weeks or so.I set a target too low to achieve.my advice to you is to Set a target score at least 700.
Important thing is to achieve the target score in mock test then only take any date to sit in the exam.don't otherwise.Any ways Good luck with ur prep.
I also have to say the same thing. "Don't take actual GMAT until you achieve your target score in GMAT Prep". Even i made the same mistake, i was expecting to overperform on the actual GMAT, which did not happen.

with 3 more days to go, i did a CAT yesterday. the GMAT CAT. i didn't do too well. i scored a 480! i dunno how?! i got 18 correct in maths & 24 correct in the verbal. i can definitely see 6 questions in maths which i should've gotten right. what should i do between now and wednesday (actual gmat exam day)?

i went through all my mistakes which i did in the CAT. topics which i thought i was really weak in, i picked 'em up in the mgmt guides and went through the whole chapter and all the possilbe questions related to 'em. today i'm going to go through the mistakes i did in the gmat powerprep maths questions and gmat prep maths sections. if i feel the need i'm going to back to the mgmt guies and go through the chapter again.

later in the day i'm going to give another test. is this the right approach? please advise!

I think this is a great strategy. Use the CATs to see what weaknesses you still have and also use them for pacing. You should be good, and do well on your actual exam. Just try not to burn out, that would be bad.

I would say don't purchase them. Just buy one of their books and you get access to their CATs for a year. The book is cheaper than just buying the CATs, if I remember correctly.
