Got a 530, need atleast 600 in 4 weeks time. How?
hey luckily i got hold of the manhattan guides. it's exactly what i was looking for. i'm going to go through each workbook and then do the questions at the end of the book. let's how that goes. i'm devoting around 8-9days for all of that. is that fine?

No, continue to read and reread them until 3 days before your test.

i'm onto the second guide now. did number properties and all of the questions in it. i'm doing equations now.
i feel that this is exactly what i needed. each topic is categorised and questions are marked topic-wise. so i know i'm over a topic once i'm through with one study guide. how i'm working on it is that i read a chapter then i do all the questions at the end of the chapter. i mark the ones which i get wrong. then i do all of the questions marked at the end of the study guide from OG, marking those questions which either i worked on slowly or i got wrong. once i'm through with all the questions i go back to these questions, trying again and if i still don't succeed, i look at the explanation. i plan on looking at these questions often over the next few weeks in order to not forget what mistakes i have been making.
is this the right approach?

also, if i'm studying for 2-3 hrs each day, is finishing the study guide in 3 days, with all the questions a good sign or am i going too slow or too fast?
i'm planning on finishing all the guide in the next 9 days + 2 extra days of revision. the next 1 week i'll be concentrating on verbal and constantly re-reading through these study guides (maths) to not forget what i learnt. and the last five days would solely be dedicated to doing practice tests and revision.
how does that sound?

i'm on the 3rd study guide now which is word translations. i'm ok with rate and work problems. but premutations is something i just can't seem to understand even after reading the chapter twice! even with probability, i understood the concept better now thanks to the guides but questions which involved premutations, i just don't get 'em! it's frustrating. what do i do?

Only do one practice test. Use the last practice test to get timing down and do not worry about the score. I would spend at least 5 days on the material from the official guide, if you can.qamar999 wrote:also, if i'm studying for 2-3 hrs each day, is finishing the study guide in 3 days, with all the questions a good sign or am i going too slow or too fast?

Ignore those problems then. Odds are you won't see more than one combinatorics question, so just ignore it. Your time would be better spent focusing on the concepts that will be tested more frequently (ie: algebra, exponents/roots, divisibility, etc)qamar999 wrote:i'm on the 3rd study guide now which is word translations. i'm ok with rate and work problems. but premutations is something i just can't seem to understand even after reading the chapter twice! even with probability, i understood the concept better now thanks to the guides but questions which involved premutations, i just don't get 'em! it's frustrating. what do i do?

Number Properties. Its by far the most important book to go through. After that I would say Equations Inequality and Vics and then Word Translations. If you aren't pressed for time though, go through them in order.bhumika.k.shah wrote:I got the manhattan books too.

Depends on how you look at. Number Properties are tested at a higher frequency than Word Translations so it makes more sense to go through that book first.

i'd agree with osirus0830 too. the order in which he's asked you to go through the books makes sense. the gmat doesn't question you on just one topic. it combines 2-3 topics in one question. and number properties are a good base to start from.
i was thinking the same. i haven't seen those MANY propbability or premutation problems on the actual test. i'm gonna give it one last shot tomorrow3 by sitting with my instructor. let's see..osirus0830 wrote:Ignore those problems then.
