A physically active lifestyle has been shown to help increase longevity. In the Wi star region of Bellaria, the average age at
death is considerably higher than in any other part of the country. Wi star is the only mountainous part of Bellaria. A
mountainous terrain makes even such basic activities as walking relatively strenuous; it essentially imposes a physically
active lifestyle on people. Clearly, this circumstance explains the long lives of people in Wistar.

Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the argument?
(A) In Bellaria all medical expenses are paid by the government, so that personal income does not affect the quality of
health care a person receives.
(B) The Wi star region is one of Bellaria's least populated regions.
(C) Many people who live in the Wistar region have moved there in middle age or upon retirement.
(0) The many opportunities for hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities that Wistar's mountains offer make it a favorite
destination for vacationing Bellarians.
(E) Per capita spending on recreational activities is no higher in Wistar than it is in other regions of Bellaria

C seems like the right answer. If most of the population in the region has not necessarily been exposed to the local lifestyle for a very long time, then the argument is weaker.

Why is A wrong..??

Is it due to the fact that the medical expenses for other regions are not defined here..?
So we cannot say other regions are not having govt support..

A has nothing to do with undermining the argument. The argument says that as wistar is a mountainous part of Bellaria, it enhances the longevity of people through basic activites.

Remember, wistar is only a region of Bellaria. Choice A irrelevantly talks about Bellaria in general and there is no focus on Wistar.

We have the following data from the passage:
Physically active lifestyle ===> Longevity
In WI star region, average age at death is considerably higher.

A) if this were true, then all Bellaria will have same average age at death. Also, this is out of scope .
B) What we need is an idea of the age group of the population, But not the size of population. Hence, not ok.
C) Looks very plausible. As the group of people living in Bellaria consists of mostly middle aged and retirees, making the average age higher.
D) Out of scope
E) Out of scope.

Hence, answer is (C)
