Good 1, thought of sharing

Less than 50 percent of a certain tropical country's wildlands remains intact. Efforts are under way to restore biological diversity in that country by restoring some destroyed wild habitats and extending some relatively intact portions of forests. However, opponents argue that these efforts are not needed because there is still plenty of wildland left.
Which of the following, if true, most significantly weakens the argument of the opponents of conservation efforts?
(A) As much, if not more, effort is required to restore a wild habitat as to preserve an intact habitat.
(B) The opponents of restoration efforts are, for the most part, members of the wealthier classes in their own villages and cities.
(C) Existing conservation laws have been very effective in preserving biological diversity within the wildlands that remain intact.
(D) For many tropical species native to that country, the tropical wildlands that are still relatively intact do not provide appropriate habitats for reproduction.
(E) If a suitable population of plants and animals is introduced and is permitted to disperse and grow, tropical habitats can most certainly be restored

OA D
Cheers !!

If you read the question stem properly, it's a fairly easy question as the other answers are easy to eliminate:

A) If more effort is required for restoration than is currently required for restoration, then the claim of the opponents is strengthened. Elminated

B) Irrelevant - We know nothing in the argument about whether not restoring the wildlands benefits the wealthy class

C) Thats great but it strengthens the claims of the opponents because they say that there is plenty of wildlands left and if existing conservation efforts are helping preserve the current wildlands than the case to restore the previously destroyed wildlands is weakened

D) AHA - If the current size of the tropical wildlands is not big enough to facilitate breeding between species then clearly we need to increase the size of the wildlands so as not to risk losing the species in the future.

E) We are looking for a reason why the wildlands need to be restored, not how they can be restored.

Hence D

Which of the following, if true, most significantly weakens the argument of the opponents of conservation efforts?

One have to weaken-- THESE ( ie restoration efforts/ efforts to restore) efforts are not needed.

Skim off B, C and E.. (as explained by others in the post)

(A) As much, if not more, effort is required to restore a wild habitat as to preserve an intact habitat.

Out of scope / Irrelevant to the argument. Here, a comparison is drawn between two different types of effort ie restoration efforts and preservation efforts. This comparison does not affect the conclusion.

Correct. Restoration efforts needed here.

(E) If a suitable population of plants and animals is introduced and is permitted to disperse and grow, tropical habitats can most certainly be restored
