I agree with C)

We can draw a grid or use the actual formula.

I will try to use the formula

Since we are aksed for a fraction and not an actual number lets take the toal to be 1 (since we are working wiht fractions)

Total = Group1 exclusive + Group2 exclusive + both + neither (1)

(Note this formula is not the same as

Total = group1 + group2 - both + neither (2)

group1 = Group1 exclusive + both
group2 = Group2 exclusive + both

Thus from (2) I can get to (1) - Use the different variations based on what given in the problem


Coming to the problem:

Stmt I

Group I exclusive = 1/3

Still Group2 exclusive + both missing

INSUFF

Stmt II

Group2 exclusive + both = 1/2


INSUFF

Group I exclusive missing


Stmt I and II toegther

Total = Group1 exclusive + (Group2 exclusive + both) + neither
1 = 1/3 + (1/2) + neither

neither = 1 - 1/3-1/2
= 1/6

SUFFICIENT since we just need to find the fraction

Choose C)

What if here you were asked to find the fraction of how many people buy only product Q.

Then it would be E, right?

I tried to solve it by Venn diagram and landed uo markin E....crmaya cn u explain by venn's diagram

one has to find PnQn

if u combine 1 and 2
PnQn = 1/2-1/3 = 1/6

very easy???? C rocks
