Expert replies

What is the fastest way to solve Q1 of the attached? I solved it by drawing
a number line but it took quite some time.

How can we solve Q2 of the attached?

Thanks

1)
I think the way to draw a line is fine, it is a tool which helps you to see the problem, I don't think there is a "method" for this question.

2)
450y=n^3
9*5*10*y=n^3
3^2*5^2*2*y=n^3
The minimum value of y for n an integer is: y=3*5*4

Therefore, I would answer I only

Thanks. I'm just curious which book/material did you studied (that you think) helped you in solving the 2nd question?

You can find some of this type of exercice in OG but the forum has much more exercices like that.

You posted the question - shouldn't you know the OA?

Ah - just realized what you asked - sorry for the previous post

OA is Official Answer ( or Obvious Answer - for those who prefer to be cocky) - basically, the answer to the question.

Thanks
"E" is the correct answer or OA.
M
I m not sure how the answer would be E...
May be i am getting something wrong here...

I would draw this as below:
From question:
A-------------18---------B
C------------8----------D
From 1
A--d?-9------C----9---d?-B
From 2)
A-----D
So combining 1 and 2
A-1-D----8----C---9-----B

So in this case answer would be C. Why the answer is E ?
Anyone ?
