GMATPrep reinstall - how much improvement is typical?

I took GMATPrep 1 and 2 in January and got Q 48, V 38 (710) and Q 47, V 41 (720), respectively.

I re-installed GMATPrep and took GMATPrep 1 two weeks later and got Q 48, V 41 (720). So only a 10 point improvement.

Since then, I've been studying hard, and retook the 2nd test yesterday. The second time I got Q 50, V 45 (770)- a 50 point improvement. I want to know how much of this is me getting better and how much is the benefit of a handful of repeat questions. I didn't remember the answers to any of the questions.

How much did your GMATPrep scores change after re-taking after re-installing?

Repeating questions will definitely skew your score--especially if you recognize the answers readily. Take those re-installed scores with a grain of salt...

On the other hand, judging by your earlier GMATPrep scores, it seems like you're on your way to a great test day!

It just depends on how many repeats you saw - that varies from person to person.

If you happen not to see any repeats at all, the scores are as valid as a first test. If you did see some repeats but, for whatever reason, you not only didn't remember the answers but also remembered nothing that would have led you to solve the problem more efficiently or effectively than you otherwise would have, then the scores are also valid. If, however, you had some type of "boost" (even if it wasn't actually remembering the answer) on more than 2-3 questions, your score is definitely inflated - and the more on which you had a boost, the more inflated the score is.
