What is the fastest way to solve this problem? Like should I be thinking in terms of some kind of number properties instead of plugging in different numbers to test each answer? Because that took me way too much time..Thanks!

For exponential values there are three regions; less than 0, from 0 to 1 and greater than zero. If you analyze all the three regions all three equations will be valid....
1) for less than zero; x > y means x^2 <y> y means x^2 <y> y means x^2 > y^2

Its important to correctly identifying the ranges when dealing with backtracking....

with picking numbers, is there a way to back solve this and please show how to actually test each roman numeral. This is def taking too long!
