This is bit tricky question

ques is x-y>10 , is (x-y)>(x+y)


stem1. x=8 so, 8-y>10 or y<2> 8-3--- true so, sufficient

Stem2. y=-20 so, x>-10
plug the value by taking x=-9
-9+20>-9-20--- true sufficient

Hi,
it's easy to solve when you modify the equations :)

x-y>10 means x-10>y
x-y>x+y means y<0. That's what you need to find: is 'y<0'?

1) x=8. Then 8-10>y, y<-2. So, y<0. Statement (1) is sufficient.

2) y=-20. So, y<0. Statement (2) is sufficient, too.
Answer is D.
