1. doubling the increase of

U cant say many .. increase.

Also, the ing form modifies the whole part before it correctly. So, OA A is the best answer. Let us wait for an expert comment too. :)

"increase in" and "increase of" both are correct idiom. In this case, "increase in" is incorrect because it would mean "increase in some year", making the sentence illogical. So, "increase of" is correct here. "increase of last year" is correct.

So, D is out.

I am fine with-
1) We need to choose as MUCH and not as MANY
2) We need to choose increase OF in this case.

Someone please clarify, why A is Right and why C is wrong?

Since we are talking of the number of, which is the subject in this sentence, increase OF makes more sense.

Rest all are wordy.
