GMAT vs GPA, which one more important; 3-4 years experience

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me which one has more weight? GPA or GMAT?

Please keep in mind the other informations:
1. Experience 3-4 years
2. Well known school
3. Eng. undergrad
4. GMAT is OK, not very bad, marginally above 700
5. GPA is OK not exceptional, more like 3.5

I know, both GPA and GMAT are just a couple of many aspects Adcom looks into.
I heard somewhere that for less work ex, GPA holds more value as it demonstrates one's performance over the 4 years. I know both are more important, but if there is a tie between 2 individuals with identical essays andother stuffs, and one has a relatively higher GPA, while the other has a relatively higher GMAT (same % variation), which one may get in? Is there a pattern, or does it depend on school, Adcom, chance, etc.

If you have a 700+ gmat and a 3.5 gpa in engineering... well man, you're fine and it really doesn't matter to adcoms! write great essays now!

Sounds like you have a very strong application!

I think that the further removed you are from your undergrad years, the less important your GPA becomes relative to your GMAT score.

GPA vs. GMAT

When people have 2-3 years of work experience as opposed to your normal 4-5, I've heard GPA is more important than GMAT? Is that true?

I was a liberal arts major in school and graduated magna cum laude (3.808) - so the weakness is - can I do quant.

If I score ok on the Quant portion (44+) - does that position me well as a candidate? If GMAT is 44 / 38 - 690. for UCLA?
