If your target score is much above 400, I would reschedule. I think with just a week left and little practice/low practice test scores, you need more time to understand the basics before attempting the GMAT -- the score will go on your record.

thank you, I should have mentioned that my target score is about 500 (university requirement). what I have been doing is that I take a practice test and then go over all the questions for both sections (Quantitative and verbal). I search for answers to the questions that I got wrong and I make sure I understand why the correct answer is the one that I should have chosen. Do you think this is enough as a prep?

On the Positive side, there is a lot of Scope of improvement.If you are targetting 500 then Official Guides and GMat Prep should get you there.However, you must study the two in great detail....and focus on the Content before you take tests.

If I were in your shoes then I would seriously consider recheduling,i would take two weeks just to focus on the content and use MGMAT Flashcards free to download.and then only practise GMAT PREP towards the end.

if you have got the 340 score very recently... you might wanna reschedule..
the gmat prep scores are more more or less consistent with the real scores.
Get the OG and if other prep material. practice a few questions everyday. Solve questions on the forum. a 500+ score is not really that tough. All you need is some serious effort into it for a few days.

Honestly, no. At a 340 stage you shouldn't be doing practice tests -- a score at that level indicates that you do not understand the basics. While you may surprise yourself, I would certainly reschedule the test under those circumstances.

I would go pick up a high school math book and review the fundamentals - number properties, triangle ratios, basic algebra and geometry, etc. I would *not* reschedule my test until I was regularly scoring 500+ on my practice tests.

You're not at the stage where repetitive practice tests would help. You need to understand the concepts behind those problems, rather than just understanding the problems themselves.

myohmy gives good advice. At this point, you shouldn't be looking at GMAT materials at all. You need to work on the math and grammar foundations before adding on another layer of complexity with GMAT problems. A high school math book is a great idea, as is adding 30 minutes of reading into your daily schedule. It's an easy and interesting (well, more interesting than GMAT reading passages) way to improve your general verbal skills. I recommend the Wall Street Journal and the Economist. After a few weeks of reviewing math and verbal, THEN start doing practice tests and working out of the OG.
