GMAT taking decision -- advice needed

Hello everyone,

I am an undergraduate student currently in my final year. I am planning for an MBA after 3 years from now. Will it be a good decision to clear out my GMAT now or should I do it a year before applying to the colleges?

Hi Merlin92,

Your GMAT scores are valid for 5 years, so if you have the time now to prepare/take the test, you might consider doing so.

Yes, I have time.
I was just concerned that do the schools prefer someone who has taken the GMAT test recently or they are just happy to see the score valid (as it is for 5 years)?

Hi Merlin92,

Since the GMAT is a standardized Test, the version that you would take sometime in the near future would ostensibly be the same as the version that you would take several years from now. Business Schools have never appeared to care about how "old" a score was, so there doesn't appear to be any inherent advantage to be had there. From the standpoint of building your overall application, there IS an advantage to focusing on one piece of the application at a time, so if you can set aside the time to focus on the GMAT without having to think about any of the other pieces, then you might find it easier to score at a high level.
