Dear All,

I am a newbie at this forum. My GMAT is scheduled after 3 months.

Aiming for a 750. Strong Quant but week Verbal

Please suggest some material to prepare for verbal (target score - 40+)

Hi navras87,

Have you purchased any GMAT materials already? If so, which ones?

Have you taken any full-length practice CATs yet? You say that your Quant is strong, but your Verbal is weak, but we need to know how strong/weak, so we can put together a study plan. If you haven't taken a CAT yet, you can download 2 for free from www.mba.com.

Thanks you so much Rich and Brent for your response.

@Rich - I have the OG 13th Ed. but apart from that I have not purchased any gmat material. I took the diagnostic test (OG)which was having more questions than the gmat exam format. In Quant, got around only 5-6 questions wrong but in verbal, the accuracy was about 50 %. Thank you for suggesting the free prep CATs.

@Brent - Thank you for the suggestion. I shall definitely register for the 60-Day gmat guide. But I feel there will be equal weight given to quant and verbal. I am mainly looking for improving the verbal skills.

Hi navras87,

You should plan to take one of those practice CATs, in its ENTIRETY, sometime soon. Your score on that practice CAT will establish your "baseline" score and give you a sense of your actual strengths and weaknesses. The information in that practice CAT will help you to figure out what you have to focus on to improve.

I'll echo what Rich said; you need to take a full-length practice test (https://www.mba.com/the-gmat/download-fr ... tware.aspx). It may be the case that you need to work on both math and verbal.

The Study Guide gives equal time to math and verbal. If you want to focus more on verbal, just complete fewer math activities. The guide will merely ensure that you cover all of the concepts necessary to reach your target score.
