Dear BEATTHEGMAT users,
I have written this post to clarify a few things to go through the concept thoroughly . I have been writing my strategy down , also have a set of questions .
Objective : 750+ score and to target some of very good schools in Europe
Positive points : Determined to make it
, preseverance , good at maths in general (Engineer)
Negative : Time available Two and half months in total and working at the same time, Average in formal english (not a native speaker but comes from india so stidied in english have not that bad level)
Startegy I devised following many posts from the forum , my experince and personal thoughts:
1. Go through all the basics thoroughly, be it maths or verbal . irrespective of you know it or you don't know (a good refresher) . Don't forget to make notes .
2. Do some problem questions based on each topic (need not to be tough ) as warm up and refresher , also to retain the things in the brain.
3. Start diagnostic test (or test) based on each topic and follow strategy written at the following link :
https://www.beatthegmat.com/gmat-practic ... s-t68.html (thanks Eric for a great piece of advise , it works )
4. Must have a good feel of all topics by now, start diagnostic test with following objectives :
a > To reduce all so called stupid error to 0 .
b > To bring down all errors caused due to trick in the question (negative sentence twice causing a positive in turn etc)
c > To figure out weak areas (of course)
d > To build the stamina gradually for real test and unlearn the bad habits of past ( breaks every few minutes , tired brain, coffie every few minutes etc )
e> To analyze and revise where you need an improvement to be sure to improve in next test
f> DO not move further if You have not done well the step e
5. Repeat the step 1 to 4 as and when needed .
Questions I want to clarify with the expert on the forum: ???
1. Following the step 1 , need an advise : What to follow for each topic. I know there is a great literaure on site as well as in concise form but still i am lost when comes to investing on good material
2. What could be the best book(s) to revise quickly all maths topics in a dcent manner (I an do it very very quickly)
3. What could be the best book(s) to revise quickly all verbal topics in a dcent manner (I want to do it really slowly to ensire all digested)
4. For Critican reasoning , CR bible powerpre is the best for CR (i am convinced )but any contrary opinion most welcome
5. Reading comprehension : Most challenging I feel, will highlly appreciate some good material/book referred to improve scrope there
6. Sentence Correction : I have gone through partially preparing this part but need to work there a lot . I know Manhattan SC is good but anything in addition , i would like to know which can put me in 95 percent hit rate
7. The books I plan to follow are as follows :
a > OG 12, OG quant and OG verbal second edition (already bought)
b> PowerPrep CR (didnt buy yet)
c> what else (Kaplan 800, Kaplan Premeir program , manhattan ?? , princeton, NOVA)
d> Any particualr manhattan material or any other one
Thank you so much and will keep you posted as I progress further with all latest material/ideas I come across.
waiting for expert advise and comments,
good luck,
