Hello all,

My aim is to apply for a MBA at the top US schools.

I work in an internal audit role for one of the largest global banks and due to a busy work schedule travelling to various jurisdictions I would be grateful for some advice on how I should focus my time.

"¢ Scenario 1. Take time and a methodical approach in preparing for the GMAT and application process, targeting a score of 690-720 and apply in round two; or

"¢ Scenario 2. Keep my GMAT preparation to question practice and target a score of 630-650 to ensure I get an application in for the first round.

It would be great to hear your thoughts and any additional suggestions.

I think the common advice given round 1 vs round 2 is, it is better to apply during round one if you feel your app is at its strongest. If you feel the extra time will help improve your overall app, defiantly wait.

This applies to GMAT scores, essays, letters of rec, hell maybe even resumes if you have a huge promotion coming up.

I would concur with Jon here.

I also suggest that you should give yourself enough time and follow a methodical approach to work on all parts of your application starting with 7oo+GMAT score,and then moving on to excellent essays,recommendation letters,and resume to showcase your unique personality and bright career.

I think the general advice is to apply when your application is strongest. If you feel that your application will be the best it will be this application cycle in Round 1, then that's the time for you to apply. If you feel an extra few months between R1 and R2 will help, then Round 2 it is.
