GMAT Prep2?? (b and c)

If a, b, c are positive integers, is b between a and c?

(1) b is 3 greater than a, and b is less than c.
(2) c is 5 greater than b, and c is 8 greater than a.

Can someone throw some light on this prob...

(1) indicates b>a and c>b, therefore c>b>a
(2) indicates c>b and c>a, and since c=b+5 and c=a+8, substitute for c and you get b+5=a+8 then b=a+3, indicating b>a so again c>b>a

each answer by itself is sufficient
