Hello,

I'm very discouraged right now, as I've taken the two GMAT Prep tests with the following scores:

PREP1 - 660 (Q44 V37)
PREP2 - 630 (Q47 V29!!!!!!!!)

Can those who have taken the test recently compare Verbal on the REAL GMAT to what GMAT Prep is like. I take the test in just over a week, and this verbal score has knocked me down. For my last two MGMAT tests I scored a V40 and V41. What's the deal???????????

RC is one of my weaknesses and I got some difficult passages (or at least for me) - not so much a surprise. SC was a surprise - I thought SC was a strength until these tests. I got plenty wrong, which has not been happening. The SC questions just seemed different and are tripping me up!

Any input would be great!

It's pretty accurate.

Change your methodology. Where are you falling apart?

I realized I had a problem "focusing" during the verbal - especially during reading comprehension, so I Forced myself to focus by writing.

"Writing what?"

I actually took my "yellow pad" and for each sentence correction question, wrote down exactly what the errors were as I was reading them (i.e. Modifier, Verb Tense, Idiom, Parallelism, Subject/Verb, Pronoun - all of the questions fell into one of these 6 areas...most questions had 2 or more problems). With "Critical Reasoning" I would write down the main point of each passage (short hand...keep it simple... 5-10 words). And with Reading Comp I wrote down a one liner detailing what the passage was about.

Figure out where you're going wrong...and attack it.

Thanks for the info.

I do write down notes for RC, but I could right more and ask myself more questions while I'm reading. Sometimes if I don't understand something I just let it go. I think I should spend just a little more time trying to comprehend it.

I don't write errors down in SC, maybe I'll give it a try.

RC really screwed my verbal score. I wasn't positive on many of the RC's. I need to focus more. 1.5 weeks to go....it's crunch time!
