GMAT Prep test vs. Actual

Hi All,

I just took my first GMAT Prep test today, and I surprisingly scored a 760(Q49, V44). I'm wondering how close these are to the actual tests. I know that this by no means is an indication that I'm set, and I'm going to continue to keep working and trying to remain consistently around this score on my practice tests, but it'd be good to know how much of a variance there is in difficulty/scores between GMAT Prep and the real thing.

Any comments are appreciated! Thanks.

GRMAT prep score is usually very close to Actual. +/- 20-40 points.

It's the closest indicator you'll find. Great score, keep up the good work!

Hello!
Great job! A couple things to keep in mind though:

Your score might be inflated if

1) you didn't do the writing section. Even though the writing section isn't included in the final 800 it is still the FIRST part of the test and therefore takes some of your mental energy.

2) you took longer breaks than you'll get on test day (8 minutes)

3) you did any other things that you won't be allowed to do on test day such as have a bottle of water next to you

With that said, the GMATPREP tests are very accurate and students usually score within 20 points of that test.

Oh, that's definitely something I didn't consider. Given that this was my first test and I hadn't done any real prep for the written section, I did not, in fact, complete that section. So it should be interesting to see if I can keep the score in the same realm when I do spend the additional hour.
