Hi everyone!

I'm hoping that someone can help me out with these questions and what the thinking process should be to solve problems such as these. The GMAT Prep unfortunately doesn't give explanations and I can't seem to understand/figure them out! Thank you so much!!

For which of the following function is f(a+b) = f(a) + f(b) for all positive numbers a and b?
a) f(x) = x^2
b) f(x) = x+1
c) f(x) = sqr x
d) f(x) = 2/x
e) f(x) = -3x

a) 2
b) 3
c) 4
d) 5
e) 6

An investment of d dollars at k percent simple annual interest yields $600 interest over a 2-year period. In terms of d, what dollar amount invested at the same rate will yield $2,400 interest over a 3-year period?

b) 3d/4

Alicia's take-home pay last year was the same each month, and she saved the same fraction of her take-home pay each month. The total amount of money that she had saved at the end of the year was 3 times the amount of that portion of her monthly take home pay that she did NOT save. If all the money that she saved last year was form her take home pay, what fraction of her take home pay did she save each month?

a) 1/2
b) 1/3
c) 1/4
d) 1/5
e) 1/6
